NANO-SCIENCE CAMP

The Nano Camp was hosted in a venue called "The White Lagoon", very near to the city of Balchik, some 45km north from the city of Varna, Bulgaria. Between 1st and 6th July 25 teachers (experts) from partner countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Italy and Turkey) and 45 students attended to this camp. These camp participants were selected through a poster competition in which 145 students took part.

The number of the students was nearly equal; 22 of them were males and 23 of them were females.

Activities were distributed in one week agenda, under the aims and objectives set by NTSE project. Please see agenda here. The students had both implementations /hands on activities and cultural tours in Bulgaria. The experts were from Science teachers from Bulgaria, Romania, Greece Italy and Turkey. They made experiments during the camp which were about different Nano subjects; can be found on the website and the extras; hands on activities and games. Nano kits designed to use in the classrooms to implement the activities in the experiment room of the Virtual Laboratory were given to the participants to be able to do the experiments during the camp including nano scale rulers; beakers, magic sand, nano textile, lamel etc.

At the end of the camp, the students had the awareness about Nano technology. They gave a portfolio presentation on the last day of the camp showing how they felt before and after, what they did during the sessions and the attendees also had a certificate for their participations in the Nano Science Camp for teenager researchers.

On the other hand the camp was amazing for sharing culture diversity and improving their foreign language.
